Governor Joe Manchin was working on a plan on Monday to use 23.5 million dollars a year for programs, education, community support and research for substance abuse.
Some local treatment centers are hoping to get a piece of that pie.
"It's very important for the legislature and the government to understand that putting money into treatment is more cost effective than putting it anywhere else, " said Karen Schimmel with Westbrook.
No official word yet where the money will be going, but for the time being the Westbrook treatment center is working with the grant money they have now.
"One of the newest programs that we started in the last couple of years was through a grant....were are using suboxone, "said Schimmel.
Suboxone is a drug designed to ween people of opiates, and with out insurance suboxone costs $400 dollars a month.
The program also goes hand in hand with therapy and other treatments.
30 people from Wood County that are involved in the suboxone treatment and officials with Westbrook hope to soon open it up to more people in other various counties.
