A 3.1 magnitude earthquake shook Washington County yesterday, just one week after a 5.8 magnitude earthquake left the east coast trembling. Now the question is "Where were you when the quake hit?" I can tell you where I was for both: As you may know, I work the morning show, so by 1 p.m. I'm home and by 1:30 p.m. you might just find me napping, as I was on the day of last Wednesday's shake up. So, here I am in bed ready for a nap when Valentine, my dog, looked at me with a quizzical look. At that moment the house began to shake for a few seconds and I thought to myself, "man that must have been a big truck driving by!" 20 minutes later my mom called asking about the "earthquake" and that is how I became an earthquake survivor. Now, I did not feel the other tremor felt in Washington County yesterday (August 31st). However, as soon as it happened at around 5:30 a.m. the phones in the newsroom lit up. Obviously I could not answer every call because I was at the news desk anchoring Daybreak, but thanks to all of the viewers who called in, I for sure will not forget the Reno-area earthquake either. So, where were you? |
