Hello again Mid-Ohio Valley readers! Thanks for taking time to check out my blog!  As some of you may have known, I recently chopped off all my hair! Yes, that's right! It's gone! But not gone for good... I sent it away to "Locks of Love."

For those who may not know, Locks of Love "is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis."

I first donated my hair when I was in college.  I was a full time student, working at a restaurant and had for too much hair on my head.  All I ever did was pull it back into a ponytail.  It was healthy, shiny and always clean- but it seemed wasteful to have that much hair and not do anything with it.  Then I remembered Locks of Love.  I went to the mall- booked an appointment at a salon- and 10 minutes later I was 11 inches (of hair) shorter.

From then on I've donated my hair every chance I get.  It's not the fastest process- but once I hit 11 inches or more- I'm as good as in the chair to get it all chopped!  That's not to say it isn't stressful! Trust me- it is! All that hair--- and then BOOM--- much much much much shorter- it takes some getting used to.  I just try to remember all the money I'm saving on shampoo and conditioner!  And that I'm helping a kid who needs it!

If you go to Locks of Love's website you can see photos of donations and recipients- lean all about what you need to donate (there are guidelines that you have to follow)- and if you can't donate hair, other ways you can make a difference.

Lock of Love has become one of my favorite organizations to be involved in! Everyone knows how hard it is to find time to volunteer- and how money donations are not always possible- at the end of the work day it seems almost impossible to do anything but get to be- and that's one great thing about Locks.  It doesn't take anything but hair growth.

I can't imagine being a little boy or girl and trying to explain to all my little friends why I don't have hair.  It's hard enough being a kid these days.  So, I will continue to donate my hair to Locks- because if I can do something to help one of those kids-- I will.  I hope you will to!

Thanks for kicking it with me for a while, M.O.V! Have a good one!

You still need to do something with what's left. Think Emma Watson.

Erin! What a great thing you did! Your parents should be very proud! I've always thought about donation- but was far too afraid of what my hair would look like after the cut! You are so brave to cut all that hair- IN FRONT OF AN AUDIENCE! Good for you! I hope you plan on staying in the MOV (as you call it!) because we really love having you here! You're great! Thank you for this story!
