If you have not already heard, WTAP's weekend anchor and weekday reporter, Leslie Barrett will be leaving for a lead anchor position in Youngstown, OH.

In the short two months that I have been at WTAP I have learned a lot from the other reporters, anchors, and producers, and Leslie has always been right there to help me out anytime I have a question.

Her work ethic and dedication to WTAP shows throughout the news room and she is going to be an absolutely irreplaceable member of our team!

She is definitly going to go far, not only because of her talent and journalistic abilities, but also her genuine kindness to others.

I cannot count how many people in the Mid-Ohio Valley have approached me telling me how much Leslie has made an impact on a certain story or out at a community event. She is also going to be missed dearly by our community.

Tonight on WTAP News at 11, Leslie will have her last broadcast for WTAP.

I am so excited to hear all about her accomplishments and I will be sure to keep you all updated on my blog!

Best of luck Leslie! You deserve it and CONGRATS! :)

I grew up in New Castle, PA and graduated from high school with Leslie's mom. I live in Northeast Ohio now and look forward to watching Leslie on our local news channel.

I always enjoyed watching Leslie when she did the news and I had the pleasure of meeting her not once but twice....One time she and I literally bumped into each other when she was doing a story at the mall..I was actually trying to get out of her way and she wasn't looking and bumped into me and knocked me over....She said " I'm so sorry I didnt see you there "...I said " Well now I can actually say Leslie Barret swept me off my feet " Ha Ha....Leslie will be missed but I know Shannon you will do a great job...
