"If You Build It, They Will Come"
WTAP News When is a new bridge cause for celebration? When it's the one-year anniversary of one of the largest bridges ever built...and which ended work on one of the biggest road projects in local history.

Chris, If you are so mad about this town having to many high education jobs and not enough "REAL WORK", then why don't you go get a HIGHER EDUCATION. Everyone knows in today's world it is hard to make good money without "higher education". There is a nice cheap college down the road, how bout you go get yourself some kind of "higher education" and quit mouthing my hometown:)
This town and area is a big joke! No big business is coming in here, we cant even keep the businesses we do have afloat. This area is becoming the same waste land that Wheeling,WV has become. Desolate and only for the highly educated, if you have no college education than you are pretty much looking into working at a local restaurant or a call center. This area does not need any more food it needs work.... REAL WORK... and I blame the leaders of our community who refuse to get with the times and fight to bring good business here to help feed the mouths of our loyal MOV citizens. This area has been promised so much and have received so little. I can truly say.. I am not proud to be from this area with its corrupt officials and scratch my back while I scratch yours methodology, give everyone a chance not just your friends. Open your eyes elected officials before this area becomes Wheeling, WV, which has no business left at all in its town. If you don't believe me go take a visit.
"If you build it..." They wil use it as a bypass around your city.
The only problem with Corridor D bringing in more businesses is that the road and the area around it was built during a time of rapid artificial growth. That type of growth is gone now and hopefully it wont be back again. It was unsustainable. The consumerist way of life has been turned down now since access to easy credit has been reigned in. Its a shame though to see areas like near Fort Boreman not getting the development they where intended to have. Lets just hope when they do put new businesses in they put in something we dont already have 6 of. Fat chance on that though.
Corridor D was a needed byway around Parkersburg. However, with the added benefit of bringing more traffic to the area, it also allows a birds eye topography of the area, visual display of urban developments and businesses, the seeming prosperity and wealth of the area in that we appear to be a vibrant area for additional capital investment, that with the crossroads of Corridor D and I-77 the MOV can be a strong candidate for additional industrialization. Corridor D brings traffic to the area wheter or not they stop, it was intended for ease of traffic and not for the purpose of attracting business - even though Corridor D offers the luxury of showcasing this area and its potential. Happy birthday to this area of Corridor D!!
