Freedom of Speech is great... as long as it doesn't cause a riot. Your one-sided political view that seems to be encouraged by WTAP could cause you to lose some business. I sincerely believe that your disrespect to your son's new Commander in Chief after he was elected is disgraceful to the uniform they and many more wear. As a Disabled Veteran of the same conflict, I have chosen to grab a sandwich somewhere else when I have the craving simply because of one of your recent "thoughts" - not to mention some of the other stuff you have spouted over the months. It really is OK to use your "inside voice" sometimes, Brad. I have to wonder if WTAP would give me some space on these pages every time I had a thought drift through my noggin' after a few drinks. Cheers, and pour another... Tuesday is just around the corner.

You Go Brad! Freedom of Speech! Only in America! Now you want to comment on something people don't get, how about all the idiots that don't understand what Obama means when he says he's bringing change.

I just posted this...soapbox...I think that you can down off of yours now.

Posted by: Kevin Location: Williamstown on Nov 20, 2008 at 04:23 PM
Actually, S, you're wrong. You have NO RIGHT to post anything on this board. This is a private medium and is NOT COVERED BY FREEDOM OF SPEECH. If our schools and government classes would do a better job of keeping up with the times, you would know that FREEDOM OF SPEECH involves only spoken words in public places... like a soapbox... and NOT printed words, TV, Radio, internet nor any other forms of media. To state that Brad has a right to display his sign is also not correct, but for different reasons. Can anyone tell us why that is so? Anyone? Bueller? S?

LOL...all of you need to get a life. How lame that WTAP has nothing better to do than post a good ole boys sign...what a joke, as are all of you that have a fit when someone says he is a dork...I have the right to post this just like he has the right to post his dumb comments.

As the year draws to a close we will need to select the 'Sign of the Year'. Please cast your vote. Brad's lethal injection sign and accompanying rant about needing the death penalty for teenage burglars was a classic, and quite frankly, made me feel warm all over. Or, it could be the John McCain sunscreen sign; a real delight for the cancer sufferers in our area. I knew I was somebody when Brad chewed me out publicly over my comments on it. Brad and his followers, "Woodheads", are your typical right-wing armchair patriots. Rough and tough, callous and crude, they are against everything and if it weren't for their beer belly they would get up and prove it. As for WTAP, bless their little hearts, they are doing a great job wringing some news out of this ghost town. Even the sign is better than one more round of Chenopods, Nettle, and grass.

Geesh, some of you guys are very immature! It's a sign, why so critical? If you don't like it, don't look. Who are you to say what WTAP should or should not cover? That's right, you are NOBODY.

I look forward to reading your sayings each week. Please keep them up.

Not afraid... just annoyed!

Posted by: Larry Location: Parkersburg on Nov 19, 2008 at 04:00 PM
Some folks just like to complain when your views differ from theirs. Your signs, and this comment forum, offer healthy opportunities of humor, and discussion. There will always be the complainers who have problems with it. By the way, WTAP can report on whatever they choose. If you don't like it, look elsewhere for something to complain about. Maybe you should also hide your face when you go by Brad's signs. You know...."Out of sight, out of mind"

S... obviously you do care or you wouldn't have commented. So you don't like what he has to say, that's your opinion as is what he puts on HIS sign is his! And to the two of you who think it has more to do with WTAP..SAY WHAT? you say you want them to report on the community....well they are reporting on things in the community and this IS part of the community ( even if you don't like what it says or the fact that his shop IS part of the community). AND Yeah there are other things of importance but it's nice to seethings in the news other than violence and such everyday.. we may not all agree on what WTAP reports on every single day but in my humble opinion, they do a heck of alot better than some papers in that they do try to report about the community ( and yes I have a complaint that they leave out parts of the county outside P'burg and act like they aren't as important, but for the modt part I think they do fair coverage) again, just mho

They fear anyone with a different view, and feel threatened.

Posted by: last time on Nov 19, 2008 at 02:13 PM
well brad 1. our opinions dont matter and we also dont get a public forum to voice them... 2.your opinions have been mostly 1 sided political views... 3.your buisness is a deli. we are not affraid of your sign or your view personally i just wish you would keep them to yourself unless asked otherwise.

Posted by: Kevin Location: Colorado on Nov 19, 2008 at 01:49 PM
I'm pretty sure that WTAP continues to report on this is because we continue posting all of these comments. So, to all of my like-minded friends who believe that WTAP expresses fooloishness when they report this, we need to stop posting. When the link to this story stops getting so many clicks, and the ad revenue begins to decline, then they will stop reporting. It seems as if my hometown news is more interested in advertising dollars than quality journalism. This will be the last time I click on the link. I encourage others to do the same...

Posted by: anon on Nov 19, 2008 at 01:42 PM
I don't think they are afraid of your sign or view. I think they are critical of it, offering a different opinion. Differing opinions do not equate fear. You make it so easy to criticize because you are so blatantly ignorant. You have the freedom to share your view, but please don't be surprised when others recognize its stupidity.

Posted by: Elizabeth Location: Parkersburg on Nov 19, 2008 at 12:27 PM
This is for the person who said he is a dork and no one cares about the signs. Apparently you care enough about it to see what it says and comment on it. If you didnt care about it, you wouldnt even take the time to read it and comment on it now would you?

Posted by: Gerald Location: Marietta on Nov 19, 2008 at 11:58 AM
I don't think it has as much to do with this guys signs as it does WTAP choosing to report news on these signs instead of doing their reports on something a little more important. Maybe they could report on some things in the community that is of a little bit more importance like maybe a way of someone to donate their time around the holidays or something that someone has done in the community to help someone. This thing with all these signs is just getting out of line. Come on people !!!!!!

Hey S....you must care, or you wouldn't have posted. My husband and I also look forward to Tuesdays, it's our laugh for the day.

Posted by: angie Location: pkb wv on Nov 19, 2008 at 11:15 AM
i think that Brad hits home with his comments and that's why people don't like them. You go Brad!

Posted by: Tammy Location: Parkersburg on Nov 19, 2008 at 11:15 AM
Truth hurts!! What a great country where we can express our opions. Your are "The Man"

Posted by: Chris Location: Parkersburg on Nov 19, 2008 at 10:24 AM
My complaint is not your sign or your comments on it. My complaint is that you changing your sign each week is not news and I don't think that WTAP should be wasting time covering it. There have to be more imporatant things going on than what one man puts on a sign outside his sandwich shop...

Posted by: s Location: k on Nov 19, 2008 at 09:24 AM
You are a dork... no body cares about your signs...

Posted by: Susan Location: Parkersburg on Nov 19, 2008 at 07:20 AM
Frankly, I appreciate your sign and look forward to your comments! Isn't it ironic that generally speaking, most people who proclaim to have tolerance for others' views seem to be intolerant of your opinion? This is still America--first amendment rights work both ways.

Posted by: j Location: OH on Nov 19, 2008 at 06:55 AM
Because they don't understand that we all have differences of opinions....That is how shallow minded people are around here.

Posted by: Teresa Location: Parkersburg on Nov 19, 2008 at 05:58 AM
I look forward to driving by to see what new thing Brad has posted! I really loved the sign about spreading manure not wealth, and actually thought about taking a picture and sending it to Fox News. Wish I would have!
