Marietta High students, teachers, and parents sent the most texts in a Verizon Wireless contest last spring and Friday the school received a big check for everyone's efforts.
At a pep rally Friday, Verizon Wireless representatives presented a $10,000 check to the school for winning the TXT2WIN Contest.
Marietta High beat eight other high schools in Ohio and two in Kentucky.
Jennifer Morrison a manager of Verizon Wireless in Marietta said "We just want to show our support within the community for our local schools and just know that we're here for them and to support the school with a donation."
The athletic director said the check will help cover a shortfall in revenue from last year and hopefully replace banners in the gym.
Verizon was planning to present the school with another $1,000 check Friday night during half time for entering the contest last fall.
Also Marietta High is currently involved in another TXT2WIN Contest.
