Jury selection has wrapped up Tuesday in the trial of a man accused of killing a baby in January of 2007.

31 year old William Ryan Johnson is accused of beating Stephanie White's 15-month-old child to death. The two were dating at the time, but Johnson is not the father of the victim.

Two weeks ago, Johnson's former cell mate testified that the suspect admitted to killing the baby.

Jury selection began yesterday, and when it wrapped up this afternoon the jury visited the Powell Apartments off College Parkway where the crime took place.

Opening statements are set for Wednesday morning.

Stay tuned to WTAP News and wtap.com for updates on the trial as it continues.

i can't help but wonder why someone can't pick up the phone and call someone to come get a child whom the adult says the baby was crying and getting on his nerves. If nothing else go to another room. There is no excuse for what happened.Being a grandmother i would have been right there which i'm sure the grandma to the child would have been there.I only pray justice is done.I have no pity when something like this happens.May god bless the sibbling to this child.
