some of us love trick or treat having it starting at 6:00 is nuts cant even light up the pumpkins and the other goodish stuff we set up for the kids its not dark enough out,Halloween lands on Friday ok fine, when we were kids we had it on Saturday instead worked for me.I think our state government should stay involved in whats important ie road improvement's,fixing the traffic issues down town, getting this area up to par with national wages ect,With that said make the 31st a off holiday like most of the U.S.A then there will be NO issues with Friday night sports and a three day week end to boot we all could use more time to spend with are kids.If you don't like the late treaters you have 2 choices,Turn off some lights and don't answer the door heck it's only 1 night a year or second is hand out candy and have FUN WITH IT SUPPORT THE CHILDREN!!! Being from a big city I never seen as many polite children even the older crowd as last night, thumbs up to the parents!!!! Mike

I think if trick or treat time is from 6-7:30 that should be it. When 7:30 comes go home....well I still had trick or treaters till 8:10...I felt like taking names and calling the cops...I think trick or treating is "hocus pocus" any way.

Turn out is very low here on North End but the kids that are stopping are very enthusiastic. I think that Thursday night is fine. There is to much hustle and bustle on Friday night. This is a much safer situatiion for the kids. They need all the help they can get. It can't be easy being a kid these days.

This is to let the mother that is talking about the 300# mothers and their 6 month old trick or treating. Did you ever think that maybe it was because it was her childs first halloween and just wanted to feel part of the excitement. I know when my children now 14&18 were trick or treating you better believe I took them out. Mind you we only went to a few neighbor houses so we could have pictures and memories of that night. I do believe that maybe it has nothing to do with the fact that your saying the mother is a 300# women, just that she wants to enjoy the evening with her kids, Would have you made the same comment if the women weighed 125. I have a feeling the answer woould be NO!!!

I for one do not want my kids on the streets on a Friday night. During the week is much safer

Posted by: Tyler Location: Pennsboro on Oct 26, 2008 at 11:39 PM
Pennsboro is October 30th (Thursday) 530-7 and then a party/costume contest at the Woman's Club right after trick or treat

Trick or Treat is not held on a Friday because around the High School it would be dangerous for the kids with traffic for football games.

I do agree with alot of you, Halloween should be on Halloween night. That kinds defeats the purpose of Halloween. It would be easier to have it on Frie. instead of a school night.

Alternate days are great for grandparents!! Also, check church calendars for events on the 31st. Make it a week long event. Enjoy each day. Make the memories.

I agree that trick or treat should be on Halloween, but only because the 31st falls on a Friday. I'm not looking forward to my daughter being all hyped up from the costumes, walking, and candy receiving only to have to be "wound down" enough to go to sleep so she can be rested for school the next day. Trick or treat should be held on the Friday night closest to the actual holiday.

i agree with kiddin me it is all about the kids sometimes parents ruin the fun for their children cause they are always worring about the petty stuff suck it up everyone last year it was the same thing people yelling about it being a wensday look just suck it up and enjoy the holiday it is about the kids not adults

The Trick is on us.....It is a shame that in todays society, That the date of trick or treat is changed due to Friday night football games or to co-inside with other towns. Who cares... kids only need to go out once ...not hit up every town around. I myself have to make Adjustments in work schedules, to plan to be at home and to take our small children out on their night of clean fun. Again I have come up short,I am scheduled to work on the 30th, and I now have to find someone to cover for me at work, which at this point will be impossible. Well Guess what, I'm going to return 50 dollars worth of candy back to the store.... if everyone does this, this will really help our local economy. Are you going to change Thanksgiving and Christmas too?

Posted by: Kelly on Oct 14, 2008 at 12:23 PM
Kidding me? Aren't we a little rude? I have a step daughter who we don't get all the time and this just happenens to be our year for halloween with her. And being that halloween is on the 30th this year, I or her father will not get to celebrate this holiday with her. Yes, we get her for the 31st. But then it's over. She already got to enjoy this holiday without us. So yes there are a few of us that are a little upset that this holiday is not where it should be. So take a chill pill!

Oh, what a bunch of whiners. This night is about kids having fun. Leave it to the mom's of the mid-ohio valley to try and make it about them. So, zip it and try and enjoy yourself.

Let's rebel and have it on Trick or Treat ! Spread the word! Haha.

Posted by: Jodi Location: Parkersburg on Oct 7, 2008 at 04:25 PM
Why can't City Council move trick or treat to a Saturday afternoon? Wouldn't it be so much safer for our children to be out in the day light hours? Also, parents wouldn't have to deal with kids on a sugar high right before bedtime with school the next day.

Posted by: April Location: Parkersburg on Oct 7, 2008 at 02:40 PM
It is rediculous to hold this on any other day than the ACTUAL holiday. I know of a little girl whose birthday is on the 30th and now she won't be able to have a birthday party because of the trick-or-treat day change. I am all for holding holidays and birthdays on the actual day.

Posted by: Mom on Oct 6, 2008 at 06:14 PM
I agree with Mineral Wells Mom....our fine mayor and council "did not have time" to coordinate with other communities.....so we have to endure kids we have no clue who they are....and the 300# mothers begging for candy for their 6 month old latched on to a pacifier.

Posted by: Mineral Wells Mom Location: Mineral Wells on Oct 6, 2008 at 05:19 PM
Why can't they have it all on the same night? We are flooded with kids that don't live in our community and vice versa. Would be more affordable for all if it was on the same night everywhere.
