Nutrition is not something people typically focus on during the holiday season, but experts say the average person gains between five and ten pounds during the next couple months.

Devena Moore with the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department says eating breakfast is an easy way to keep yourself from eating teo much.

Experts also say if you're cooking, to use skim milk instead of heavy cream.

They say portion control is their biggest tip.

"It's ok to have a little bit of everything, but don't go back for seconds, save it for later and don't put it all back in your refridgerator. Make up little goodie bags and send it home with people, " said Moore.

Experts say it's also better to season your food with spices rather than butter.
