Misappropriation of funds? Let's have an honest discussion about how this mayor has been spending CITY money on projects outside the city, such as the access road to Wyndemere off College Parkway, Willow Lane (private road), and signage and such for Packard Square (another private road). He dedicates a snowplow according to the snow removal plan for 19th Ave off Nash, where nearly HALF the residents aren't in the corporation limits. Did your street get plowed any last year?? As a resident and taxpayer of the city, I find this to be an even greater offense than anything Mr. Craig is alleged to have done. This whole city needs to be investigated by the Feds.

If you thought Craig was a "yes man" you haven't seen anything yet. Find it hard to believe Craig did anything seriously illegal. If the mayor wants to clean house, start with Conageski, L. White, and G. Moss, three of the rudest "public servants" I have ever encountered.

i am sick and tired of our mayor and shariff hiring these people whom already have a retirement income. there are too many younger people whom have lost jobs and need an income, these guys they have been hiring already have a steady income. PLEASE STOP AND THINK ABOUT THIS!

A Court of Law will not decide if Mr. Craig is guilty. A jury picked from a list made up of citizens just like the ones here who have already made up their minds will decide. Sorry to tell you but it is a done deal, one way or the other. In Parkersburg perception always wins out over the facts.

Let he without sin cast the first stone...You people think he is the only one? You are all hypocrites. How many of you can tell us that you never kept a pen from work? Or printed personal material at the office? Took a handful of nails from the job site? I may not agree with what happened, but he and his family are some of the greatest real people I have ever met. They all have my full support through this, regardless the outcome. Mr. Craig is not the only one you hypocrites should be investigating. Maybe your own mayor? Maybe former mayors? Water dept employees? It's everywhere, big or small, so get off your pedestals and come back to reality. None of us are any better than Mr. Craig.

it's great that craig has so many supporters, but not everyone is who they seem...he was fired and is under investigation for embezzlement...some serious charges...he might be nice and probably has a nice family, but facts are facts....

I agree with the comment about an outside agency completeing the investigation instead of the Parkersburg Police. Innocent or not, Mr. Craig deserves to have a non-bias investigation. Something I don't think can be done with an internal investigation done by the Parkersburg Police.

Let this play out before passing judgement. I have known the Craig Family all my life and they are decent, hardworking people.

I do know that Randy Craig is a dishonest person, because he told me an outright lie less than three months ago.

This is a shame. People should keep an open mind until the matter is investigated and confirmed or not. Remember, a person is innocent until proven guilty.

I can't imagine that Randy Craig would do something like this. He is a good man and has a family. Why after 25 years would he do this? You have got to ask yourself that. Why do you always judge before you know all the facts. What happened to innocent until proven guilty. You should really think before placing comments.

For those who believe Mr. Craig isn't the "type" to do this have had the wool pulled over their eyes. As a tax paying Parkersburg resident I'm glad to see this theif go!

I would like to say that Mr.Craig is a really good man and when I heard about all of this,it turned my stomach. Why would you have to broadcast something like this to the public when he have a famiy. He is not the type to do this and it's not any of our business.

OK, Randy Craig is gone, so they make Doug Life Finance Director. Mr. Life is a retired Parkersburg Firemen, the the Waste and Recycle Superintendent and now the Finance Director. Thats like double, double double dippin!! Why didn't the city post this job? Just another one of the mayors inside jobs. It would seem to me that the State Police should be doing the investigation. I never really trusted Mr. Craig. He always seemed to be the mayors yes man.

I think that an outside agency should investigate this instead of the Parkersburg police, how objective can they be?

Why do these people continue to believe that they can get by with this behavior? |

Think about this. The mayor appointed Nangle to investigate. Does anyone wonder why Nangle isn't a detective anymore. Something doesn't look right with any of these decisions being made by the mayor. From detective to patrolman to investigating a city official. WAKE UP PARKERSBUG. Sounds like most people watch each others back. Demotions, early retirements, resignations. What next???
Let me see if I get this right. Mr. Craig is a nice man. Let him alone, he has a family. The media is the one embarrassing the family, not Mr. Craig himself. If he is stealing, that's ok because somewhere, someone else is stealing and hasn't been caught. DUH! Are you people for real? We might as well give him his job back and give him a raise.
I am not an Obama fan , but it sounds to me like it is pretty plain he got caught stealing. How do you know others are stealing, do you have proof or evidence ? Goons , do you know these people,do you have a reason to mud sling at random ?
Seems to me that Mr Craig ticked off the wrong person, and now he's the scapegoat. If you people think this is an isolated incident, you're sadly mistaken. Go back to worshipping your little Obama statue and praising Newell. The rest of us will remain in the real world, where it's obvious the mayor and all of his goons are just as guilty as anyone else.
The whole city should be investigated.Other people can be doing the same thing.Stop slamming one poor man because there are tons of people in the area that are taking things right underneath our noses but we're too blind to see what they're doing.
Do you people not have anything to do than slam a man on how has done wrong? We all make mistakes, some more large than others but I know Randy Craig very well and he is a very nice man.He has a good, nice, loving family that deserves not to have to go through all of this broadcasting of what has gone on.If you knew this family, none of you would be saying the hurtful things that you've said.Get to know people before you talk crap on them.
E doesn't know what they are talking about! We can't speak for conageski or g. moss but L. White has assisted my wife and I many times, as well as others we know. She is kind, knowledgeable, and most helpful and in our opinion one of the best employees of the City of Parkersburg!
Chris you are on the mark.
so steve, what does e~mailing home from work or taking a paperclip have to do w/being investigated for $10,000 worth of discrepencies, charging value city and sams for furniture and a laptop???....kind of reaching aren't you???
So Jim; You've never taken a pen, pencil or paperclip from work? Never emailed home from work or surfed the web while on the clock? Impressive.
well said JIM and LES!!...
I agree with E. This whole city/county, needs investigated.
Wow !! " an internal investigation has revealed several incidents of misappropriations of city funds for personal use " Another bona fide crook , he was around the money and temptation and greed took over. A little bit and no one will miss it, a few days later hmmm lets take some more...no one will ever notice and finally he got busted, I bet he woke up this morning thinking, how stupid of a thing to do. Look at the shame he has brought on to himself and his family
Oh no I may be in trouble too. I take my laptop home to work in the evenings. (all work related) answering emails and working on reports for the City. I hope the Mayor doesn't arrest me and haul me out in handcuffs.
I love it when people use the old "no one is perfect and until you are dont judge antoher" arguement. No, no one is but stealing from employer and doing other things while you are on the job is quite a bit different. I'll judge all day long because I dont violate my emloyers or the publics trust. Book him Danno
