The future is looking a little "greener" as hundreds of middle school girls are learning about environmentally friendly jobs.

Friday, 250 eighth grade girls from Wood County schools attended Girls Go Green at WVU Parkersburg.

The event is designed to educate the students about career opportunities in green jobs, and the girls say they learned a lot.

"We learned how to use a cabbage as a little PH tester for how much acid is in there, and it's like amazing," Shannon Knight, a Williamstown High student, said.

"It's a good experience for all of us girls to see what we can get into when we're in science," Sydni Menking, a Jackson Middle student, said.

The girls spent the day doing a variety of science projects, and having some interesting discussions, such as how to make your car run on french fry grease.
