Local Attorney Pleads Guilty to Tax Crime

A local attorney faces a maximum of five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to federal tax charges Thursday.

A local attorney faces a maximum of five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to federal tax charges Thursday.

Richard Hayhurst of Parkersburg pleaded guilty to Failure to Pay Over Trust Fund Taxes for Employees.

The mishandling of funds at his law firm took place from October 2003 through December.

Hayhurst was also charged back in 1996 with Failing to File a Tax Return for the 1991 year.

Hayhurst is free on a $10,000.

His sentencing is set for March 16, in Parkersburg.
