This is rediculous ! I went to my childs school when I was told to do so and my daughter did not get her vaccine because obviously noone at the mid ohio valley health deaprtment knows how to count or use a telephone! I drove clear out of my way to be turned away because a bunch of 5th graders dressed like prostitutes got their shot before my daughter. This is just plain insane! Im not going to make my children ill by standing for 3 hours in 50 degree weather to recieve a shot she should have gotten in the first place. IRRESPONSIBLE!!!My 8 month old will not be standing outside to get sick also. thats ludicris! Shame on you mid ohio valley health department!!! Shame on you !! And you can take that to the bank!
to anonymous why be so rude about it, r u telling me that the woman who was pregnant that did die of the swine flu had underlying health problems, we dont know what other ppl have to set and make accusations like this i was only speaking on behalf of a family member that was all. i wasnt trying to dog noone and i am thankful for the one who gave me information for others to get the vaccine, thank you for being so kind. i dont understand why you would have to be so insensitive saying that they had secondary problems you dont know them or me to judge that. i am sorry didnt mean to upset anyone on here just was looking for some information that was all. thanks to those who provided it and didnt accuse or judge others.
To those of you who are whining about having to stand in line..are you better than everyone else who has stood in line? If you don't want to stand in line then don't get it, I have talked to 3 Drs that aren't even recommending them and my child with asthma had te H1N1 and it wasn't as bad as the media has said. You all can die from complications due to the seasonal flu and no one seems to care or talk about those vaccinations. To the person who stated that their relative died from "swine" flu, first of all they didn't die from H1N1 they died due to complications from it meaning they had a secondary infection or underlying condition..they could have died from seasonal flu just as easily. I would like for WTAP to run the stats from last year and at the end of this flu season to compare H1N1 deaths to seasonal flu deaths because according to the CDC approx 36000 people die a year from complications to seasonal flu..uh oh gonna be a mad run for that vaccination now, get a grip
I just called the Health Department and talked to them. There WAS a mix up right at first with them thinking it was just for West Virginia residents that can get the vaccine from MId Ohio Valley Health Department. They have since called the main office in Charleston and they said it does NOT matter what state you came from that we can not be turned down for the vaccine as long as we meet the other requirements. So that is great to know. Belpre Residents CAN go to the Mid Ohio Valley Clinics.
Thats not right, if the mid ohio valley is here for the MID OHIO VALLEY, then they need to let all cities that are part of the Mid Ohio Valley partake in getting the vaccine..They need to call themselves the "Parkersburg Health department" not the Mid Ohio Valley Health Department.. I just moved to Belpre from Parkersburg and have NO CLUE where anything in Marietta is...
How much clearer can they make it?? 25 through 64 of age with underlying health conditions.
To Anonymous: "me" is not correct. If you live in Belpre you CANNOT get the shot at the Mid Ohio Valley Health Department. My friend went to the first clinic for pregnant women. She is pregnant and stood in line for 3 hours. Got inside and was told she could not get it because she lived in Belpre. She went 3 days later to a Washington County clinic and got the shot and didnt have to wait at all. There was a tiny note on the door of the MOVHD clinic that stated that you must live in Wood County. No one could see it though. It was blocked by people.
I called about the first H1N1 clinic held by the MOV health department a few weeks ago and they informed me that it was for WV residents only. You should call to be sure before you go stand in line.
Thanks "me"
This is for concerned...you HAVE to be a West Virginia resident to receive the vaccine at the MOVHD in Parkersburg. Check out the Washington county Health Dept for dates for Ohio residents. Wanted to clear that up before you went and stood in line for hours!!!
I wish they did this by appointment. It is very difficult having small children stand in line for several hours waiting to get the vaccine. Some people don't have the time to do that either.
Why can't they go back into the schools again?? Why should we have to wait in the cold to get the children vaccinated? I would think that they would, to be sure everyone has a chance.. How many people say heck with that, because of long lines... Who's idea was this?? Come and set in line with me in Dec. When I'm freezing!
Anyone know what exactly a "household contact" would be? My son is <6m so I know that I can get the shot, but what about my parents? They keep him a lot and I would be happier if they could get the shot, too.
