Marietta is getting some national attention from a well-known newspaper millions of people read each day.
The New York Times published an article about visiting the "Pioneer City" in the travel section of the paper Friday.
Robert Yeager, wrote the story detailing Marietta's history as the first settlement of the northwest territory and home to several powerful politicians in our nation's history.
Yeager lists sights to see and things to do in Marietta.
In August Charlotte Keim with Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce was approached by Yeager about doing the story.
Keim said she wasn't sure when Yeager approached her if it was legitimate, but she did her research on Yeager and found out that he had written articles for the post.
Yeager visited for five days during the Sternwheel Festival.
Yeager took a tour of the city and spoke with various Marietta residents.
Keim believes this article could help encourage people to relocate to the area.
"Even people living in this valley will discover things about Marietta that they might not have known. Certainly they will find some places they might visit." said Keim.
