Huntington, W. Va. (AP)- A Huntington police officer shot and killed a man who allegedly pointed a gun at the officer after a shooting downtown.

Police Chief Skip Holbrook said Joe Jermaine Porter of Huntington died Sunday morning.

Police said the 30-year-old pointed a gun at an officer arriving at a nightclub to investigate suspected gunfire.

Three other men were shot before the police arrived.

Two are being treated at local hospitals for non-life threatening injuries.

A third man was released from the hospital but is being held by police on an unrelated charge.

Holbrook said the officer who killed porter is on administrative leave while the department investigates the shooting.

Holbrook declined to give the officer's name.
