Pizza and cake were on the lunchtime menu as members of the Parkersburg Police Department gave a send-off to Police Chief Gerald Board.

Those on hand to give the chief well-wishes on his final day with the department were fellow police officers...his office staff...and city Fire Chief Eric Chichester.

Chief Board announced he was retiring from the department in October.

For the immediate future, he plans to take a vacation with his wife.

"After the first of the year, I'll decide if I want to stay home all the time, or get involved in something else."

Parkersburg Mayor Bob Newell says he has interviewed four candidates for the police chief's job...and plans to get input from city council on those candidates before making a final decision.
