The Parkersburg Salvation Army Friday officially kicked off its annual kettle drive...to raise money for its annual Christmas campaign.
Nearly all of those who accompany the familiar red kettles are volunteers...and some have, in the past, been in need themselves.
"It's giving back to the children, like when I needed help," says volunteer Jackie Hoosier, "to help other families that can't afford to buy their kids presents and stuff like that."
The Marietta Salvation Army will start its kettle drive on Monday.
Both campaigns run through Christmas Eve.
