The Wood County Sheriff's Department is seeking a new position...and it does not want extra money to pay for it.

In budget discussions Thursday with the county commission...Sheriff Jeff Sandy asked commissioners for the O.K. to hire an analyst to handle drug cases.

The money to come for it would come from salaries for two vacant positions at the holding center, which would not be filled.

Chief Tax Deputy Dennie Huggins told the commission that fewer people will be needed for the holding center, once it moves to the new justice center.
