The plows may be off the streets but other city vehicles are on the roads to clear away what's left of winter. Street sweepers have begun to make their rounds to clear the roads of sand and salt left over from an unseasonable winter. Just like in winter, clearing the streets will be a lengthy process.
Todd Stockel, Street Superintendent of Marietta says "Street sweeping is going to be in excess this year on account that we had so much snow. At different times throughout the last few months. Nothing large, huge accumulations. It was still steady. We just had to apply the same amount of cinders (the sand and salt mixture thrown)."
Marietta will be working to clean primary roads over the next few weeks. The regular street sweeping schedule is planned for May.
