Before the new paint goes on...the old paint has to be removed. And volunteers in the Mid-Ohio Valley Work Camp were busy Monday with scrapers instead of brushes. While some of these young people are new to the project...

"it's cool to do something good for someone," said student Moses Laweryoler from Ghana, "without he or she paying for it."

Others are quite familiar with it. Emily Newberry is enrolling in Ohio Valley University in the fall, and has been part of the work camp for several years. She can remember working on homes like this in all kinds of weather, particularly the wet kind.

"The rain's worse while we're trying to paint, because we need to get the houses done within the week," said Newberry, who is from Vienna.

And this week is expected to be a hot one. But some of these volunteers have known it to be a lot hotter.

"In Ghana, it can be 120 degrees," says Laweryoler, "so (this is a cool spell)".

But they're focused on doing something for others...which will be remembered by everyone involved for a long time to come.
