A Marietta High School teacher was honored Tuesday for making a difference in the classroom.
Steve Foutty is November's Jan Dils Golden Apple Award winner.
He teaches a variety of classes, including wood-shop, drafting and architecture.
Mr. Foutty was nominated for being open to help students in any subject and demonstrating that it's "cool to be kind."
Nineteen years into his career and still going strong, Mr. Foutty says the students are his inspiration to stay motivated.
He also says he is honored to receive this award.
"Overwhelmed, surprised! Not easily embarrassed but I'm a little overtaken right now. It's one of the rewards in education that you don't always see and many times, things like this go un-said. But I appreciate that someone took the time to do that. I'm sure there are a lot of other teachers that deserve this equally or more, as well but I appreciate the opportunity," he says.
Congratulations Mr. Foutty!
