She's dedicated and devoted to her students, who adore her.

That's why Cherish George is this month's Jan Dils Golden Apple Award winner.

Ms. George was surprised by the Golden Apple team Tuesday in the auditorium at Edison Middle School.

George was nominated by her friend who's serving overseas in Afghanistan.

He says she makes sure everyone, from students to co-workers, has the tools they need to succeed.

Ms. George says it's her goal to make science fun for all.

"My goal is to change their view on science. I think science is extremely important in today's world, especially for young women, I think they are overlooked sometimes when it comes to science. But that's my goal, to change their minds about it," says George.
