Jesse Parsons will spend a year behind bars for his role in an accident that injured a West Virginia State Police trooper.

Parsons entered a guilty plea on Thursday in a Ritchie Co. courtroom. That hearing was originally scheduled as a change of venue hearing.

According to Ritchie Co. Prosecutor Judy McCullough Parsons pleaded guilty to DUI causing injuries and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle causing injury.

Parsons will report to the North Central Regional Jail on November 15 to serve a one year sentence on the DUI plea. Once released, Parsons will serve a 90 day home confinement sentence.

Police had alleged that back in April Parsons was driving drunk when he struck West Virginia State Police Corporal Andy Pringle during a traffic stop in Ritchie County.

According to McCullogh Corporal Pringle was involved in the plea process and approves of the outcome.

Jessie Parsons' jury trial was set for September 13th in Ritchie County Magistrate Court.

The change of venue was filed last month by Parsons' attorney, Bill Merriman.

Police say Parsons was the driver of a vehicle which hit trooper Andy Pringle near the town of Cisco.

Parsons has been charged with DUI causing bodily injury.
