A Washington County man is facing multiple attempted murder charges Tuesday after a standoff with police outside his home.
It all started around 10:30 PM Monday when police say a domestic violence incident led to a shooting spree.
Sheriff Larry Mincks says before deputies arrived on the scene, 33 year old Jason Berecz fired one shot through a parked car. No one was injured.
Soon after, when police arrived at the scene, Berecz fired three shots at Washington County Sheriff Department's Sergeant Scott Parks.
One of those shots when through Parks' windshield and hit him in the face. He was taken by helicopter to The OSU Medical Center. He has been released and is in good condition.
Sheriff Mincks says while Parks was trying to move his car out of the line of fire, Berecz continued firing shots and two bullets went through the window of a car driving by.
The driver of the car was not injured.
After the shooting Berecz fled to his home on County 9 Rd. where he held a standoff with police for hours. He was arrested just after 6:30 Tuesday morning.
Sheriff Mincks says Berecz is facing multiple attempted murder charges.
