The Washington County Public Defender has requested a gag order on the Jason Berecz case.
The gag order would stop law enforcement and the parties involved with the case from speaking to the media.
Public Defender Ray Smith says he filed the gag order to try and preserve Berecz's right to a fair trial.
Berecz is facing multiple attempted murder charges stemming from a shooting and standoff in Washington County last week.
A hearing on the gag order is set for Wednesday afternoon.
