A man who police say shot an officer and held them at an all night standoff three weeks ago, plead not guilty by reason of insanity.
Wednesday, Jason Berecz had his bond and arraignment hearing at the Washington County Courthouse.
Officials say Berecz filed the proper papers and plead guilty by reason of insanity and suggestion of incompetence.
The county will now bring in mental health specialists to evaluate Berecz.
The full evaluation should be completed within the next five to six weeks.
Berecz faces 17 indictments, three of those are attempted murder charges and five are for felonious assault.
