The Wood County Commission has received a request for home addressing from the U.S. Census Bureau.
The bureau is preparing for the next ten-year census, which will take place in 2010.
While most of the census is now conducted by mail, bureau officials still conduct some in-person surveys at selected homes.
"I'm sure they're not going to every house," says Commission President Bob Tebay, "but they'll do a sampling. They'll find some problems and they'll correct those."
Tebay noted that it was important for the county to cooperate with the bureau, saying that, otherwise, county officials couldn't complain about incorrect census figures.
The bureau was sent information on the communities of Washington and Mineral Wells.
Finding those addresses may now be a bit easier, now that even rural homes have specific addresses as a result of mapping done for the E-9-1-1 system.
