Mother's Day is one of the busiest times for florists and Saturday was the last day of the rush to deliver orders before the big day Sunday.
Obermeyer's Florist delivered close to 275 orders Saturday but they delivered the bulk of their orders Friday, about 500.
Owner Bob Brownfield says Mother's Day is more than a one day event. Many customers are sending something special the week before.
"This Mother's Day was really good and I think I can say without checking figures and all that it probably was a little better than the last few years. I don't have an explanation for it. I really don't unless people are feeling good about the economy, feeling good about something I don't know. It's an election year and things are always strange in an election year, they really are," said Obermeryer's Florist owner Bob Brownfield.
The National Retail Federation says it expects people to spend slightly less on mom this year.
Brownfield says business around Easter was also better than usual this year.
