Area post offices did their best to "Stamp Out Hunger" this past Saturday, but it looks like they didn't collect as much food as they have in previous drives.
The Marietta Post Office collected 16,000 pounds of food Saturday, which is a little less than they collected last year.
Food Drive Coordinator, John Harding, says it could be because of the high costs of both food and fuel.
"We like to pick up food at least every other box, but it seems like it's every other 5 or 10 boxes that you actually get a donation, but we're happy no matter what we get and the food pantry's are happy too," syas Harding.
In West Virginia, Branch 48, which covers areas like Wood, Jackson and Pleasants Counties, collected 44,000 pounds of food, down 16,000 pounds from last year.
Harding says next year, he plans on sending out reminders to draw more people to donate.
