Just last week Wood County Commissioners had to check and re-check the counties voting machines, they're now ready to go for primary elections, but there's one last step, getting the machines to the precincts.

"We have scheduled them to come in every 15 minutes, a different group comes through till 6:00 tonight. They're picking up the voting machines and their supplies for Tuesday," says Jamie Six, Wood County Clerk.

The poll workers drive through, a quick and easy process Six says is truly efficient.

Commissioner Blair Couch was also helping out, he says he's just excited, it being his first election and all.

"it's an exciting process and I want to become as familiar with it as I possibly can. It's not an election year for me, I ran last year and got a 6 year term, so I'll get to do this a few more times before it's my turn to run again," says Blair Couch, Wood County Commissioner.

Tuesday, Couch will help again, going to different precincts and trouble shooting if there's any problems, but Six doesn't anticipate any issues, he is expecting a crowd.

"We'll have a long day Tuesday, but so will all of our poll workers. Voters should expect a little bit of a wait, but hopefully not too bad. I know our poll workers will do the best they can to process everyone as quickly as possible. We're looking forward to Tuesday," says Six.

He's expecting great things for this year's primary, but even with all the preparations it's hard to predict how it will turn out.

This primary elections West Virginians have set a state record, casting over 76,000 ballots already, 70% of those early votes were Democratic.

The previous record for a primary election was only a little over 27,000 ballots in 2004.
