Belpre City Council members heard the second of three readings to allow a measure to help keep access to Blennerhassett Island.
An agreement with Ruble Sternwheelers is pending, awaiting final reading and passage next week.
The contract would allow their boats to use a dock yet to be constructed in Civitan Park, for more than eighteen months.
Both the West Virginia DNR and Ruble will be required to schedule their use of the dock and parking facility with Mayor Lorentz office to avoid a conflict.
"They have use of the point until sometime in June and just as soon as we get the language straighted out... I mean, it's going to pass," assures Belpre Mayor Mike Lorentz, "..and both craft will be able to use it."
Though some citizens have concerns over their view of the island being blocked, city officials believe any minor concerns will be worked out in time for next Monday's City Council meeting.
