A different type of transportation is taking the spotlight, folks are going out to the garage, dusting off the cobwebs and taking their bike out for a spin.

"There's been an increase in sales and people coming just starting looking at new bikes, wanting to know with gas prices, how much it's going to save them to travel with a bike versus just for recreational purposes anymore," says Beth Prather, Screen Printer for Vienna Bicycle Shop.

Prather says people are looking to save money, but still get to the places they need to go and it's not just people looking to get fit.

"We have all ages, everyone from teenagers to grandmothers that are looking for bikes and things," says Prather.

It's become such a trend that this bike shop is stocking up, Prather says right now they have 20 more Comfort bikes in the store than they normally have.

"The main appeal of those is for people who want to ride rails and trails or their just wanting something comfortable to ride around town, their neighborhood. Some interested want to ride them to work because of the gas prices, they have various appeals, a few people still just want get in shape, but the biggest appeal is the gas prices," says Prather.

It's certainly not a new type of transportation, but it's one that's making a come back, people are looking to cut costs where they can and ditch the pump for pedals.
