Officials from both Marietta Memorial Hospital and Selby General Hospital announced Wednesday morning Selby General will keep it's name and separate campus from Marietta Memorial but both will be under the same board.
Memorial Health System CEO and president Larry Unroe says no jobs will be lost and a small number of employees will be transferred.
Twenty members make up the new nonprofit board. The board is comprised of twelve members from Marietta Memorial Hospital and eight from Selby General Hospital.
Dr. Charlotte Hatfield, president of Washington State Community College is the new board chair and Tom Tucker, former chairman of the board for Selby General Hospital is the new vice chair of the Memorial Health System Board.
Hatfield said, "Patients should not notice a significant difference as this takes place. The joining will provide a seamless system of care, with increased sharing of patient medical information and ultimately providing improved care and better delivery of service."
Unroe says the transition will happen over the next few months.
The Memorial Health System now includes Selby General Hospital, Marietta Memorial Hospital, Harmar Place Rehabilitation and Extended Care, Glenwood Retirement Community, Marietta Health Care Physicians, Inc., and Marietta Memorial Health Foundation.
