The scandal-plagued Ohio Attorney General stepped down Wednesday.
This comes one day after House Democrats tried to start the impeachment process against Marc Dann.
State Representative Jennifer Garrison was one of three lawyers Governor Ted Strickland appointed to review allegations against Dann.
They reviewed files for a week and decided Monday there was grounds for impeachment.
Tuesday, Governor Strickland signed a bill that allowed the state watchdog to investigate Dann's office.
The day ended with one of Dann's officials saying the Attorney General was staying in his job.
Dann admitted May 2nd that he had an extramarital affair with a 28 year old staffer.
Also this month, two top managers in his office were fired and two others resigned as a result of a sexual harassment probe.
Dann announced he was quitting with Governor Strickland by his side during a late afternoon press conference.
Strickland says Dann did the honorable thing by stepping down.
Under law, First Assistant Attorney General Tom Winters will assume the responsibilities of Attorney General until Strickland names a permanent replacement.
Democrats and Republicans will each name their candidates to run in the November election to fill the remainder of Dann's term that expires in 2010.
