It's a study to ensure the safety of your drinking water but doctors from the C-8 Science Panel are questioning the results of a preliminary study released by West Virginia University.

Dr. Kyle Steenland with the C-8 Science Panel says the study released by WVU is simplistic and does not represent a thorough analysis of the C-8 Health Project.

Steenland says the panel does not believe the study provides valid information regarding the presence or absense of a link between C-8 and health problems.

"Researchers have put up some data, some descriptive data, about the C-8 studies in the C-8 Health Project, including levels of C-8 by age and sex, and these data are more descriptive than analytical in the sense that you can't draw conclusions about C-8 causing health effects from these data," says Dr. Steenland.

The Sciene Panel was created out of a settlement agreement to assess whether there is a link between C-8 exposure to community residents and health effects.
