Within a couple of days, a 52-year-old woman and a 14-month old child were killed in separate incidents.

Friday, the men accused of killing them were indicted by the Wood County Grand Jury.

25-year-old Carl david sams was charged with two counts, including murder and death of a child by a guardian or custodian.

Police say the child died while Sams was watching him at the home of the child's mother.

Also charged by the grand jury was 55-year-old David Wayne Kaufman, charged with the death of his wife at the couple's Winding Road home.

"The allegations in the indictment are that the defendant, David Kaufman, shot and killed his wife, Martha Kaufman," said Prosecuting Attorney Ginny Conley. "That case was presented to the grand jury and returned as an indictment for murder. We will hopefully be trying that case between now and September."

In another case we reported on earlier this year, James Bell was indicted on several counts, including first-degree sexual assault and use of obscene materials with the intent to seduce a minor.

Most of those named in the indictments will be due for arraignments in Wood County Circuit Court next week.
