The Humane Society of the Mid-Ohio Valley has won second place and a check for $20,000 dollars in a nationwide "animal shelter makeover contest," sponsored by zootoo.com.

The three finalists were announced live Wednesday morning on "The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet," seen on FOX Parkersburg.

More than a thousand animal shelters across the country participated in the contest. The Humane Society of Parkersburg made it to the top twenty group of finalists, also huge accomplishment.

"Stray Rescue of St. Louis" won the top prize of a one million dollar makeover for its animal shelter.

Winning third place was the Jefferson County SPCA in upstate New York.

We'll have more information on the $20,000 makeover prize the Humane Socity of the Mid-Ohio Valley in our evening newscasts and on our web channel, WTAP.com.

This is so awesome, HSOV and HSOP do so much for our ombinmed communities, I hope this raises awareness of the plight of the neglected animals and that they benefit the most from this.

This is the best news for the animals and the staff there. The animals are so often placed the last on anybody's list. Finally some justice for our little friends, our best friends.

Congratulations to everyone who pulled this off and especially to Cheryl thanks for all your hard work!! Thanks WTAP for all the publicity you have given it has helped to change the lives of these precious helpless homeless animals. Go Mid Ohio Valley let's continue our support and not let it end here with the zootoo contest ending. These animals need all the help we can give them and everyone can do their part. Let's get together and stay strong and make this shelter a no-kill. God Bless ALL!

I think both Shelters should be commnded for the fine job they do through out the year. The general public should be more responsible for spaying and neutering their animals. And both Communities should be very proud that our shelter made it in the top 20 in this very fine contestest. Congrats!!!! to both.
