A Roane county man convicted of bank robbery will spend the next nine years in prison.
Roger Chapman was sentenced Wednesday in federal court for the September robbery.
Officials say Chapman went into the Traders Bank in Spencer and held the vice president hostage with a knife to his throat.
He told a teller to get money and ordered his hostage to hand over his own cash.
He fled before the teller returned with money, and then shaved his head to disguise himself.
But, he was arrested a short while later.
In Wednesday's sentencing, the judge said Chapman's actions have had a profound adverse affect on the victim.
