A student at Parkersburg South High School was honored for her outstanding volunteer service Thursday morning.

Brittany Stump has been chosen as a distinguished finalist in the 2008 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards Program.

She was selected from thousands of nominees from across the country.

Brittany volunteered as a one-on-one aide for a visually impaired woman attending a summer camp for the disabled.

Terry Connoly of Prudential Realtors presented the award. He told the graduating seniors that their generation has the potential to save the world.
