Family and friends of a Frontier High School senior who was seriously injured during a trip abroad got a bit of good news Wednesday.

Doctors told the family that Mariah Steele does not have spinal injuries.

Tuesday, doctors said that Mariah broke her neck.

Mariah's mother Michelle is traveling to Scotland to be with her daughter today.

Mariah is in Scotland for an ambassador's trip.

Monday she fell 23 feet into a gorge while trying to take a picture.

Friday Update on Mariah Steele:

A family friend tells WTAP that Mariah Steele will not need surgery or have to be put into a body cast like originally thought.

Her family says all of her bones are miraculously back in place.

Mariah will remain in the hospital for 2 more weeks in Europe before she flies back to the U.S. on a special plane.

The family friend says she's told by Mariah's father that 7 people have fallen into this ravine in Scotland and Mariah is the only one to have survived.

Mariah is a good girl and I knew her as she lives in the town I grew up in. She is very nice and always likes to smile. She is quite active and very loving to her family and friends. She to my knowledge is also a great student and she has lots of faith in the Lord. I wish her the best and I hope she recovers from this very unfortunate accident. I always say that Mariah is my mom, Ruthanne's buddy! May God protect her and be with her family during this difficult time.

Thank you so very much for taking the lead in getting Mariah's story out to the community. We continue to add updates to the website www.HelpMariah.com and the shout out's to her continue to come in because you have reminded us to remember that we really care. We have linked back to both of the stories on the web site. Please leave them on the server as long as you can, so that when she is able, Mariah and her Mother can see them together. God bless you all and God Bless the Mid Ohio Valley, we certainly have reason to praise Him today. Pastor Mike Webber New Matamoras United Methodist Church Rev.
