Officials say Russell E. Jones II of Harrisville is the well-tender who was seriously injured after a gas well exploded Thursday night.

Pennsboro Volunteer Fire Department Chief Robert Riggs says the cause of the explosion near Pullman is still unknown and the current conditon of Jones is also unavailable at this time.

The administrative coordinator at West Penn Burn Center in Pittsburgh says the family still doesn't want any information on his condition released.

Riggs said the State Fire Marshal's Office is scheduled to investigate the site Sunday.

The following information is from file reports:

According to the Ritchie County Sheriff's Department the explosion happened near Pullman just after 8:30 Thursday night.

The 28-year-old well-tender drove himself to a grocery store in Pullman after the explosion to get help.

Officials say he has third degree burns over most of his body.

He was flown by medical helicopter from Pullman to West Penn Burn Center in Pittsburgh Thursday night.
