The investigation continues Monday surrounding a late night fire that ripped through a Wood County family's home.
Deerwalk Volunteer Fire Chief Paul Marshall says the fire broke out just after midnight Monday on Walker Road.
When crews arrived at the scene a log cabin was completely engulfed in flames.
Chief Marshall says the mother was at work when the blaze broke out and smoke detectors helped get the rest of the family out safely.
"It's my understanding they moved in about December and they'd been working on the home for about three years themselves. He was home with his two children and the smoke detectors went off. He got up and got the kids and the dog and the cat out of the house then called the fire department," says Marshall.
Crews were still battling hot spots around nine-thirty Monday morning, trying to protect the surrounding area from a brush fire.
The Eastwood and Waverly Volunteer Fire Departments assisted Deerwalk in battling the blaze.
No one was injured.
