A Waverly man charged with starving and neglected six horses turned himself in Wednesday morning.
Fifty-year-old Dana Persinger appeared in Wood County Magistrate Court and pled not guilty to one count of animal cruelty.
Authorities say Persinger treated six horses so badly they were two to three hundred pounds underweight and worm infested at the time of their rescue. They have all since been adopted.
He was released on a personal recognizance bond. If convicted on the single count, he would face up to $2,000 in fines and six months in jail.
