The Washington County man accused of trying to kill his ex-girlfriend last week made an appearance in court and in front of our cameras Thursday morning.

On July 22nd authorities say 19-year-old Thaddeus Salomon stabbed 23-year-old Susan Lawson outside her New Matamoras home.

He fled authorities and was later caught in Pleasants County.

Salomon waived his extradition hearing Thursday morning in Pleasants County court.

Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks says they expect Salomon back in Washington County by August 8th, where his trial would take place once an indictment is handed down.

Salomon spoke to W.T.A.P. photographer Max Harris outside the Pleasants County Courthouse, telling Harris Lawson's stabbing "was an accident", and saying he was sorry for what happened.

We'll have more on what Salomon said tonight on W.T.A.P. at 5 and W.T.A.P. News at 6.

I am Thad's father and we are asking that people pray for Thad. He has been a good son and never caused us any problems. He grew up in church and worked for 2 summers at a Christian camp. He never ever displayed any violence while growing up. I know that the whole story has not yet been told. I don't know what happened that night but I am sure that Thad will tell the truth. Please pray for God's mercy on Thad and the healing of the girl. Thank you. Bill Salomon
