A man charged with murder of a child by a guardian or custodian was back in court Monday as his former cellmate testified against him.
William Ryan Johnson was re-indicted in January after he was charged last year with the death of Stephanie White's 15-month-old child.
In May his trial was postponed because his former cellmate, Thomas Jackson, claims Johnson confessed to him about killing the baby.
Monday Jackson testified Johnson told him he abused the child because he was upset the baby's mother, Stephanie White, was seeing the baby's father, Justin Whited.
Jackson said in June 2006 when the child suffered a broken leg, Johnson was mad the child was crying, shut her in a room, and when he reached for her she fell.
He grabbed her leg, felt it break, and threw her down on the floor, according to Jackson.
Jackson also said Johnson was upset another time and hit the child in the head and her head hit the computer.
Jackson faces pending felony charges for fraudulent scheme with credit cards.
Jackson said he posted bond after he gave the statement so he wouldn't be in the same cell with Johnson.
William Ryan Johnson maintains his innocence.
The rest of the hearing and the trial are set for August 18.
