Ohio State Highway Patrol Officials continue to investigate a crash involving a school bus Tuesday.

The accident happened north of Marietta on Jennings Hill Road off of State Rt. 26.

Officials say a PT Cruiser driven by 17-year-old Brandon Payne of Marietta went left of center. The car hit a school bus head on.

There were 6 teenagers total in the PT Cruiser. 5 of them were taken to the hospital.

The driver and 3 others were taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. 17-year-old Coty Adams of Whipple was flown by helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus. He is in serious condition.

There were two children and a driver on the school bus. They were not taken to the hospital.

Ohio State Highway Patrol officials say they're still investigating the accident.

Officials say the driver of the PT Cruiser will most likely be charged for the crash and also for having more than 1 non-family member under the age of 18 in the vehicle.

Just looked up the stats on the PT Cruiser, and it says quite clearly Maximum Seating: 5 So for 6 people to be packed into one of those, somebody had to be going without a seatbelt. Not to mention generally creating an unsafe driving environment.

The drive should be charged to the fullest. Under age passengers, too many in the car, left of center and I'm sure the list could go on.School buses are safe. Also, were the parents of the 6 youth aware of how their children were being transported to school. The police need to do more cracking down on the underage drivers.
