A local West Virginia Board of Education member is getting top honors for helping get kids in tip top shape.
Barbara Fish, a member and former president of the West Virginia Board of Education has been honored by the West Virginia State Medical Association for her leadership in promoting school based wellness programs and creating a healthy environment for students, faculty and staff.
Fish is a former teacher and has been a proponent of health and wellness issues.
In 2005, she was appointed by the Institute of Medicine to serve on the Nutrition Standards Committee for foods in schools and was a part of a landmark study in 2007.
