I was just contacted this afternoon and told that my application was accepted for puppy #205. We're going to pick her up this weekend!
What happened to the puppy mill puppies? The story just went away,. I have been able to find some of them on other sites for$300 or moore in other states. Why? When we here at home wanted to give them a loving home & only kept 65 Shame on SOMEONE You can call the HSOP and they say they have nothing to do with the puppies. Then who.Where oh where did the puppy dogs go?The story isn't over so come on news people get a up dated. Let the people know>
I'm with Rhonda. Here is what the HSOP $100 fee for the puppy mill dogs covers: Spay or Neuter Heartworm Test Microchip Rabies Vaccination General Health Exam HSOP Adoption Fee Having worked in a local animal hospital, I can tell you that $100 certainly won't go that far when you are paying for necessary health procedures and vaccines in addition to spaying or neutering and a health exam. A hundred bucks will pay for a health exam and vaccines only... The last time I adopted, I adopted two kittens from the same litter. The Humane Society Fee was only $18 for both. I ended up initially spending over $300 for the cat-applicable above mentioned basics for them. It seems to me that the Humane Society is actually trying to cut people a break with the $100 puppy mill fee, and I honestly don't see how they will make any money for the organization. They don't seem to be scamming, they seem to be trying to help potential owners pay less.
Um, Tami... in case you hadn't noticed, Ginny Conley is NOT seeking re-election. NOW, do you understand why this occured now? Get a clue!
I for one will never donate or help a humane society again. I also hope Sharon Roberts sues them and all the organizations involved. From what I understand she has been contacted by several breeders across the states who are outraged. I would like to see donations come in for a legal defense to fight this. Wouldn't that just fire the humane society up, has they are recieving money hand over fist for this power trip. Nothing more than legalized theft. The people of Parkersburg better wake up before it is you next. I can't believe that you all are really outraged that only 60 dogs were left in the city for adoption. You act like this was on the up and up. People need to be making sure the leaders of the humane society and Ginny Conley are looking for another job. And before anyone starts.....NO I am not a family member!
Im not whining, and i am paying attention; and i did donate. 300 pounds of food to be exact. Although i do not possess a degree in math or economics, i find it fortuitous that it cost $25.00 to adopt a dog from the human society last month, and now suddenly the price has went up to $100.00. Why isnt it $100.00 for all and any of the dog or puppies there right now? Just the puppy mill dogs? I'm not doubting that its worth it, I know how much it cost to spay and/or neuter a dog or cat, but it is what it is, its another money making scam during a crisis, and i will never donate or volunteer my time to the HSOP again. They can keep their puppies. I'm sure there are a great number of arrogant people out there that will pay it just to say they adopted one of the "puppy mill dogs" durng the crisis, which is exactly what the HSOP is counting on.
Well Rhonda from walker, I did volunteer my time, money, and donate dog food to the HSOP when this happened. I am aware of the price to spay and neuter a pet, but in the past, and let me repeat myself, in the past, it didn not cost this much to adopt a pet from the HSOP, now suddenly it does in regard to the puppy mill pups, and i find that suspicious. I did pay attention to what they claimed the 100.00 was for, but i dont believe it. Every time there is a crisis in this country, people try to make money off of it. So to sum it all up, i did help, i did do something constructive, although it will be by last time donating to any crisis or charity event, and i do have the right to complain. I was wondering, who are you related to at the HSOP?
If you people would pay better attention you would know that the 100.00 fee covers the puppies first shot, heartworm and most important of all it pays for the future spay or neuter of the animal you adopt...So you are really getting a bargain because you would have to have these things done anyway in the near future and you would spend more that 100.00 for these things if you were to do them on your own...So quit whining and pay attention...I think the Employees and volunteers did an EXCELLENT job in caring for these poor animals so don't complain unless you plan to help out and do something constructive for these animals..I did put in my application to volunteer...
If only people would line up at shelters for the "other little guys" that are there just waiting on someone to come by and give them a home. If the humane socities can get a turnout like this for the puppy mill puppies, then maybe the media should do coverage of all of the other abused/neglected animals (dogs and cats) and perhaps the same people would be interested in them. Maybe give it a try news organizations??
ok give the poor dogs a break.....this is becoming old news.
Thanks WTAP for clearing up the mistaken press confusing Whispering Oak with Winding Road. Winding Road is the extreme opposite of Whispering Oaks. You couldn't find a better loving place to take your pet then Winding Road! I pray this gets totally cleared up as Winding Road has worked way to hard to be the best kennel that they have become!
only 60 dogs available for this area out of 1,000 what happen to all the puppies she had??? or the mothers that have unborn litters???? Boy i am glad i didnt waste my time coming down there today to just see 60 dogs Hell you dont need a warehouse for that few. And you have hundreds or thousands of applications for 60 dogs. Crazy sounds like a typical West Virginia way of handling things
One hundred dollars? it never did cost that much to adopt a pet from the parkersburg humane society. i could buy a pure bred dog already house trained and socialized for that price. look in the bulitin board. another money making scheme after people donate their time, money, and gifts. how sad!
I'm a little confused (not really), but dare i ask, why the adoption fee is $100.00? isnt that fee significantly more than what it is normally? i thought the adoption fee was norally around $30.00. Let me guess, it's time to make money off of another crisis or disaster. sort of reminds me of the Red Cross.
