Across the nation this past weekend, law enforcement officers were cracking down on drunk driving, with a promotion called "Over the Limit, Under Arrest".
And an Ohio Highway Patrol trooper from Washington County charged a Coolville, Ohio man with his eighth D.U.I. offense.
Randall Hapney was arrested after he was seen driving recklessly on U.S. Route 50.
Troopers are regularly on the lookout for alleged multiple D.U.I. offenders.
"It's a lot better now that cell phones are so prominent," says Sgt. Terry McGill, a Highway Patrol trooper, "and it's easy for someone to grab a cell phone and give us a call at 1-800-GRAB-DUI, and hopefully, we can get someone into the area there".
Sgt. McGill says the Highway Patrol often gets tips on suspected D.U.I.'s through a monthly "hot sheet" they're provided through other police agencies.
The charges against Hapney are still pending.
